Funerals
“Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.May they rest in peace.Amen.”
The Christian funeral is a liturgical celebration of the Church. Church funerals, by which the Church seeks spiritual support for the deceased, honours their bodies, and at the same time brings the solace of hope to the living, are celebrated with dignity and compassion and love.
If you are responsible for organising the funeral of a relative or friend, your first port of call will be the undertaker. The undertaker will discuss the funeral arrangements with you and make initial contact with the priest.
Having received details from the undertaker Fr Foley will contact you so that you are able to meet with him and discuss everything in preparation for the day of the funeral. He will guide you in your choice of hymns and scripture readings, as well as minister to you in your bereavement.
