After what has seemed like an age of planning meetings and discussions about work to the lantern tower at St Marie’s we have finally reached the day when work can begin. Monday 10th June will be a day forever in my memory.
Full of excitement and enthusiasm (it doesn’t happen often) I rose from my bed earlier than usual so as to be ready for the arrival of the first lot of scaffolding. My enthusiasm soon waned when we learned that no scaffolding would be arriving as the contractors had ‘transport issues’. Just a little setback but I am confident work will begin soon.
A damp morning the next day saw the early arrival of the first section of scaffolding. Soon we heard the clashing of metal against metal as scaffolding poles were unloaded from the van. At last our project has begun.
